Hello from the webmaster of the Mostly Upper Midwest Airchecks Website.

As the focus of this page are airchecks of radio stations from the past, it is not my purpose to put my name in lights. My name is Mark. I have long been a major fan of radio but have never worked in the radio industry. I grew up in Madison, WI in the 1980s. I had a rotor antenna and an old Heathkit FM Tuner. I did ALOT of taping of Milwaukee, Rockford, IL, Chicago and other regional radio from the early to late 80s. When I went off to college at Marquette University in the late 80s I continued to tape alot of Milwaukee radio. When I moved to Philadelphia, PA for graduate work in the early 90s, I began to accumulate a more modest collection of airchecks from across the Eastern seaboard. I later moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada for my doctoral dissertation in the mid-90s and taped airchecks in markets such as Buffalo, Syracuse, Boston, Rochester and Cleveland. Through the mid-to-late 90s I continued to travel frequently to the Midwest and often taped Chicago, Saint Louis, and Kansas City stations when visiting those markets. Over the years, my listening preferences have leaned toward the top 40 and urban radio formats, thus the content of my airchecks reflect these personal interests though I have taped stations in other formats as well.

I started this website as a forum for my airchecks and for others to share their airchecks of Midwest radio stations from days gone by. Over a short period of time this website has become an impressive home to airchecks of Milwaukee, Madison, other Wisconsin cities, Chicago and Rockford airchecks as well as smaller numbers from other states and Canada. I am very thankful to those who have already contributed airchecks to the website and I welcome all contributions.

I currently reside in Corpus Christi, TX. I am an Academic Librarian at a university and a researcher/scholarly journal editor. So as you can see I have diverse interests in addition to radio. I strongly welcome any feedback about the website. You can e-mail me at torontomail@yahoo.com
