"Ralph" the Q106 SMC DP-1 automation system running TM Stereo Rock (Donated by Tim Ahlborn)
A larger version of Ralph the automation. Looking at this pic, I see Carousel 1 and 2 were in the "search mode" and #3 was trayed in. I can't tell which music deck was playing. The two tape boxes leaning on the rack were the next to be cued up. To the right of the automation was the "brain" of the system where you entered the "steps" to program the log for the next day. 2047 steps was it? Anyone who worked with a DP-1 will remember the fix for errors.. "Give it a Go-To." On the "brain" desk was also an Extel log printer that printed everything that Ralph did. (Donated by Tim Ahlborn)

WWQM Q106 Ampex ATR-700 decks - top deck (not shown) ran the Stereo Rock 100 series currents, deck 2 was the 200 series oldies and deck 3 was the 300 recurrent series. Deck 3 is playing on the air in this photo. (Donated by Tim Ahlborn)
WWQM Q106 studio. In this photo the top Ampex deck was playing a current. The AM was off the air at this time of night. Note the light bulb sticking out from the equipment rack - that was the "dead air on the AM" light. (which later became the 'dead air on the FM' light). (Donated by Tim Ahlborn)
