Share Your Audio!
We very much welcome your donated airchecks. Contribute your audio and help us build this online museum of Midwest radio history even bigger! We are especially looking for additional airchecks of Milwaukee, Madison, as well as other Wisconsin cities, and Iowa and Northern Illinois radio station airchecks from the 1960s through the early 1990s. Donated airchecks are accepted by e-mail in mp3 format up to 20 mbs. Larger aircheck files are also accepted by arrangement with the webmaster. Full credit for airchecks will be provided to those donating them. You may also post your own airchecks on YouTube or elsewhere and we will be happy to post a link on this page. You may contact the webmaster at torontomail@yahoo.com.
Here is a short tutorial on transferring audio to mp3 files and editing mp3 files
Transferring cassette tapes to mp3 files
1. Purchase a 3.5 mm stereo male to male cable to connect your cassette player headphone jack to the microphone jack on your computer or laptop , these are available for less than $10 from any Radio Shack and are also available on Amazon.com and elsewhere.
2. Download software to record audio from the microphone jack of your computer in mp3 format. Free Sound Recorder and other programs are available for free on the internet and easy to use.
3. Edit your cassette audio mp3 transfers with MP3 editing software. Wavepad Sound Editor is a great and easy to use editing program available for free in a trial version.
4. Create an aircheck Video for posting on YouTube. Windows Movie Maker is a very user friendly program that allows one to easily make short videos for posting on YouTube.
Files posted on YouTube can be no longer than 10 minutes, 59 seconds. Song clips longer than 30 seconds may not be allowed by YouTube's music licensing filters.
